About our Faith
As a faith, Unitarians’ believe in and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity, and compassion in human relations; spiritual growth in our congregations; a free, democratic, responsible search for truth and meaning; and a world community based upon peace, liberty, and respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.

Your Unitarian Wedding
What makes a Unitarian Wedding unique and special? It will be your wedding—with beautiful messages and rituals that reflect your values, cultural traditions and beliefs. Also, if yours is an interfaith marriage or one involving two cultures, we can help you honour both traditions It can be as traditional or informal as you like. You can be married in one of three beautiful venues within the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, or  at your own chosen location.  Your wedding will be personal, because your Lay Chaplain will create it with you.  Once you book your wedding with us, we have beautiful Wedding Guide booklets to help you plan your ceremony.

We welcome all couples who are ready to commit their love: couples who are Atheist, Christian or Hindu, Buddhist or Pagan; and couples whose spirituality is not defined within a religious institution. And we will create moving ways to honour families with children.

Weddings from different traditions: Couple at Ceremony
Unitarians welcome diversity. It is important to integrate your own sacred traditions  along with the legal requirements  of marrying in B.C. If you wish, a Lay Chaplain is delighted to co-officiate your wedding with a spiritual leader from Eastern or Pagan faith traditions. Another option is to include elements which will celebrate the rich traditions you bring to your marriage.
